BACKPORT: FROMGIT: kbuild: mkcompile_h: Include $LD version in /proc/version
When doing Clang builds of the kernel, it is possible to link with either ld.bfd (binutils) or ld.lld (LLVM), but it is not possible to discover this from a running kernel. Add the "$LD -v" output to /proc/version. ANDROID: kbuild: ensure __cfi_check is correctly aligned
On modules with no executable code, LLVM generates a __cfi_check stub, but won't align it to page size as expected. This change ensures the function is at the beginning of the .text section and correctly aligned for the CFI shadow. scripts/dtc: Remove redundant YYLOC global declaration

gcc 10 will default to -fno-common, which causes this error at link
time:
(.text+0x0): multiple definition of `yylloc'; dtc-lexer.lex.o (symbol from plugin):(.text+0x0): first defined here
This is because both dtc-lexer as well as dtc-parser define the same
global symbol yyloc. Before with -fcommon those were merged into one
defintion. The proper solution would be to to mark this as "extern",
however that leads to:

kbuild: Disable -Wpointer-to-enum-cast

Clang's -Wpointer-to-int-cast deviates from GCC in that it warns when
casting to enums. The kernel does this in certain places, such as device
tree matches to set the version of the device being used, which allows
the kernel to avoid using a gigantic union.

To avoid a ton of false positive warnings, disable this particular part
of the warning, which has been split off into a separate diagnostic so
that the entire warning does not need to be turned off for clang. It
will be visible under W=1 in case people want to go about fixing these
easily and enabling the warning treewide.

kconfig: fix broken dependency in randconfig-generated .config

Running randconfig on arm64 using KCONFIG_SEED=0x40C5E904 (e.g. on v5.5)
produces the .config with CONFIG_EFI=y and CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN=y,
which does not meet the !CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN dependency.
This is because the user choice for CONFIG_CPU_LITTLE_ENDIAN vs
CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN is set by randomize_choice_values() after the
value of CONFIG_EFI is calculated.
When this happens, the has_changed flag should be set.
Currently, it takes the result from the last iteration. It should
accumulate all the results of the loop.

BACKPORT: kcov: test compiler capability in Kconfig and correct dependency
Work around missing cc-option support in Kconfig by checking required compiler flags in Makefile. (Upstream commit 5aadfdeb8de001ca04d500586e3b033404c28617.) As Documentation/kbuild/kconfig-language.txt notes, 'select' should be be used with care - it forces a lower limit of another symbol, ignoring the dependency. Currently, KCOV can select GCC_PLUGINS even if arch does not select HAVE_GCC_PLUGINS. This could cause the unmet direct dependency. Now that Kconfig can test compiler capability, let's handle this in a more sophisticated way. There are two ways to enable KCOV; use the compiler that natively supports -fsanitize-coverage=trace-pc, or build the SANCOV plugin if the compiler has ability to build GCC plugins. Hence, the correct dependency for KCOV is: depends on CC_HAS_SANCOV_TRACE_PC || GCC_PLUGINS You do not need to build the SANCOV plugin if the compiler already supports -fsanitize-coverage=trace-pc. Hence, the select should be: select GCC_PLUGIN_SANCOV if !CC_HAS_SANCOV_TRACE_PC With this, GCC_PLUGIN_SANCOV is selected only when necessary, so scripts/Makefile.gcc-plugins can be cleaner. I also cleaned up Kconfig and scripts/Makefile.kcov as well. scripts/kallsyms: fix definitely-lost memory leak

build_initial_tok_table() overwrites unused sym_entry to shrink the
table size. Before the entry is overwritten, table[i].sym must be freed
since it is malloc'ed data.
This fixes the 'definitely lost' report from valgrind. I ran valgrind
against x86_64_defconfig of v5.4-rc8 kernel, and here is the summary:

During development of a serial console driver with a gcc 8.2.0
toolchain for RISC-V, the following modpost warning appeared:

This was verified by compiling the kernel with -fno-section-anchors
and observing that the ".LANCHOR1" ELF local symbol disappeared, and
modpost no longer warned about the section mismatch. The serial
driver code idiom triggering the warning is standard Linux serial
driver practice that has a specific whitelist inclusion in modpost.c.
I'm neither a modpost nor an ELF expert, but naively, it doesn't seem
useful for modpost to report section mismatch warnings caused by ELF
local symbols by default. Local symbols have compiler-generated
names, and thus bypass modpost's whitelisting algorithm, which relies
on the presence of a non-autogenerated symbol name. This increases
the likelihood that false positive warnings will be generated (as in
the above case).
Thus, disable section mismatch reporting on ELF local symbols. The
rationale here is similar to that of commit

ANDROID: init: ensure initcall ordering with LTO
With LTO, the compiler doesn't necessarily obey link order for initcalls, and the initcall variable needs to be globally unique to avoid naming collisions. In order to preserve the correct order, we add each variable into its own section and generate a linker script (in scripts/link-vmlinux.sh) to ensure the order remains correct. We also add a __COUNTER__ prefix to the name, so we can retain the order of initcalls within each compilation unit, and __LINE__ to make the names more unique. scripts/gdb: fix debugging modules compiled with hot/cold partitioning
[ Upstream commit 8731acc5068eb3f422a45c760d32198175c756f8 ] gcc's -freorder-blocks-and-partition option makes it group frequently and infrequently used code in .text.hot and .text.unlikely sections respectively. At least when building modules on s390, this option is used by default. gdb assumes that all code is located in .text section, and that .text section is located at module load address. With such modules this is no longer the case: there is code in .text.hot and .text.unlikely, and either of them might precede .text. Fix by explicitly telling gdb the addresses of code sections. It might be tempting to do this for all sections, not only the ones in the white list. Unfortunately, gdb appears to have an issue, when telling it about e.g. loadable .note.gnu.build-id section causes it to think that non-loadable .note.Linux section is loaded at address 0, which in turn causes NULL pointers to be resolved to bogus symbols. So keep using the white list approach for the time being. scripts/setlocalversion: Improve -dirty check with git-status --no-optional-locks

git-diff-index does not refresh the index for you, so using it for a
"-dirty" check can give misleading results. Commit 6147b1cf19651
("scripts/setlocalversion: git: Make -dirty check more robust") tried to
fix this by switching to git-status, but it overlooked the fact that
git-status also writes to the .git directory of the source tree, which
is definitely not kosher for an out-of-tree (O=) build. That is getting
reverted.
Fortunately, git-status now supports avoiding writing to the index via
the --no-optional-locks flag, as of git 2.14. It still calculates an
up-to-date index, but it avoids writing it out to the .git directory.
So, let's retry the solution from commit 6147b1cf19651 using this new
flag first, and if it fails, we assume this is an older version of git
and just use the old git-diff-index method.
It's hairy to get the 'grep -vq' (inverted matching) correct by stashing
the output of git-status (you have to be careful about the difference
betwen "empty stdin" and "blank line on stdin"), so just pipe the output
directly to grep and use a regex that's good enough for both the
git-status and git-diff-index version.

namespace: fix namespace.pl script to support relative paths

The namespace.pl script does not work properly if objtree is not set to
an absolute path. The do_nm function is run from within the find
function, which changes directories.
Because of this, appending objtree, $File::Find::dir, and $source, will
return a path which is not valid from the current directory.
This used to work when objtree was set to an absolute path when using
"make namespacecheck". It appears to have not worked when calling
./scripts/namespace.pl directly.

While no uses in the kernel triggered this case, it was possible to have
a false negative where a struct contains other structs which contain only
function pointers because of unreachable code in is_pure_ops_struct().

scripts/decode_stacktrace: match basepath using shell prefix operator, not regex

BACKPORT: kasan: remove use after scope bugs detection.
Upstream commit 7771bdbbfd3d6f204631b6fd9e1bbc30cd15918e. Use after scope bugs detector seems to be almost entirely useless for the linux kernel. It exists over two years, but I've seen only one valid bug so far [1]. And the bug was fixed before it has been reported. There were some other use-after-scope reports, but they were false-positives due to different reasons like incompatibility with structleak plugin. This feature significantly increases stack usage, especially with GCC < 9 version, and causes a 32K stack overflow. It probably adds performance penalty too. Given all that, let's remove use-after-scope detector entirely. While preparing this patch I've noticed that we mistakenly enable use-after-scope detection for clang compiler regardless of CONFIG_KASAN_EXTRA setting. This is also fixed now. Hopefully it will eventually get fixed with the clang-9 release. In the meantime, the best idea I have is to turn off asan-stack for clang-8 and earlier, so we can produce a kernel that is safe to run. I have posted three patches that address the frame overflow warnings that are not addressed by turning off asan-stack, so in combination with this change, we get much closer to a clean allmodconfig build, which in turn is necessary to do meaningful build regression testing. It is still possible to turn on the CONFIG_ASAN_STACK option on all versions of clang, and it's always enabled for gcc, but when CONFIG_COMPILE_TEST is set, the option remains invisible, so allmodconfig and randconfig builds (which are normally done with a forced CONFIG_COMPILE_TEST) will still result in a mostly clean build. BACKPORT: kasan: add CONFIG_KASAN_GENERIC and CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS
Upstream commit 2bd926b439b4cb6b9ed240a9781cd01958b53d85. There were a couple of issues during backport. The first one is caused by the upstream commit using cc-option in Kconfig, which android kernel doesn't support. Instead of using cc-option, this backport moves the compiler check to the Makefile. The other one is that older GCCs (before version 5) don't support the __has_attribute macro. The upstream has dealt with this via a special header file (compiler_attributes.h) that emulates this macro for some cases. Instead of backporting the whole series that adds this header do a direct GCC version check to determine the presense of the no_sanitize_address attribute. This commit splits the current CONFIG_KASAN config option into two: 1. CONFIG_KASAN_GENERIC, that enables the generic KASAN mode (the one that exists now); 2. CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS, that enables the software tag-based KASAN mode. The name CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS is chosen as in the future we will have another hardware tag-based KASAN mode, that will rely on hardware memory tagging support in arm64. With CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS enabled, compiler options are changed to instrument kernel files with -fsantize=kernel-hwaddress (except the ones for which KASAN_SANITIZE := n is set). Both CONFIG_KASAN_GENERIC and CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS support both CONFIG_KASAN_INLINE and CONFIG_KASAN_OUTLINE instrumentation modes. This commit also adds empty placeholder (for now) implementation of tag-based KASAN specific hooks inserted by the compiler and adjusts common hooks implementation. While this commit adds the CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS config option, this option is not selectable, as it depends on HAVE_ARCH_KASAN_SW_TAGS, which we will enable once all the infrastracture code has been added. UPSTREAM: kasan: support alloca() poisoning
Upstream commit 342061ee4ef3d80001d1ae494378f3979c861dba. clang's AddressSanitizer implementation adds redzones on either side of alloca()ed buffers. These redzones are 32-byte aligned and at least 32 bytes long. __asan_alloca_poison() is passed the size and address of the allocated buffer, *excluding* the redzones on either side. The left redzone will always be to the immediate left of this buffer; but AddressSanitizer may need to add padding between the end of the buffer and the right redzone. If there are any 8-byte chunks inside this padding, we should poison those too. __asan_allocas_unpoison() is just passed the top and bottom of the dynamic stack area, so unpoisoning is simpler. LLVM doesn't understand GCC-style paramters ("--param asan-foo=bar"), thus
we currently we don't use inline/globals/stack instrumentation when
building the kernel with clang.

all KASAN features.
