Makefile: add -fno-builtin-bcmp
The issue with using `-fno-builtin-*` flags was that they were not retained during an LTO link with LLVM. This was fixed in clang-11 by https://reviews.llvm.org/D71193 (0508c994f0b14144041f2cfd3ba9f9a80f03de08), which is also the minimum supported version of clang for LTO. Use `-fno-builtin-bcmp` instead. Makefile: add -fno-builtin-stpcpy
LLVM implemented a recent "libcall optimization" that lowers calls to `sprintf(dest, "%s", str)` where the return value is used to `stpcpy(dest, str) - dest`. This generally avoids the machinery involved in parsing format strings. This optimization was introduced into clang-12. Because the kernel does not provide an implementation of stpcpy, we observe linkage failures for almost all targets when building with ToT clang. The interface is unsafe as it does not perform any bounds checking. Disable this "libcall optimization" via `-fno-builtin-stpcpy`. commit ca9b31f6bb9c6aa9b4e5f0792f39a97bbffb8c51 upstream.
When CROSS_COMPILE is set (e.g. aarch64-linux-gnu-), if
$(CROSS_COMPILE)elfedit is found at /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-elfedit,
GCC_TOOLCHAIN_DIR will be set to /usr/bin/. --prefix= will be set to
/usr/bin/ and Clang as of 11 will search for both
$(prefix)aarch64-linux-gnu-$needle and $(prefix)$needle.
GCC searchs for $(prefix)aarch64-linux-gnu/$version/$needle,
$(prefix)aarch64-linux-gnu/$needle and $(prefix)$needle. In practice,
$(prefix)aarch64-linux-gnu/$needle rarely contains executables.
To better model how GCC's -B/--prefix takes in effect in practice, newer

In current implementation the Linux version string that is attached to the kernel linux image as well as the all kernel modules includes the sha1 of the main git project for the kernel. This Commit adds the BUILD_NUMBER env variable with an 'ab' prefix to the Linux version string. This maps to both the Linux Image and all kernel modules version strings. kbuild: Add support for LLVM's Polly optimizer
This adds support for compiling the kernel with optimizations offered by LLVM's polyhedral loop optimizer known as Polly, which can improve performance by improving cache locality in loops.
