This reverts commit eb6f68ec92ab60b0540ebf64fe851e99d846e086 which is
commit 20c20bd11a0702ce4dc9300c3da58acf551d9725 upstream.

It breaks the Android kernel abi and can be brought back in the future
in an abi-safe way if it is really needed.
