drm/sched: Increment job count before swapping tail spsc queue
commit 8af39ec5cf2be522c8eb43a3d8005ed59e4daaee upstream. A small race exists between spsc_queue_push and the run-job worker, in which spsc_queue_push may return not-first while the run-job worker has already idled due to the job count being zero. If this race occurs, job scheduling stops, leading to hangs while waiting on the job’s DMA fences. Seal this race by incrementing the job count before appending to the SPSC queue. This race was observed on a drm-tip 6.16-rc1 build with the Xe driver in an SVM test case. Fixes: |

drm/printer: Allow NULL data in devcoredump printer
[ Upstream commit 53369581dc0c68a5700ed51e1660f44c4b2bb524 ] We want to determine the size of the devcoredump before writing it out. To that end, we will run the devcoredump printer with NULL data to get the size, alloc data based on the generated offset, then run the devcorecump again with a valid data pointer to print. drm/mipi-dsi: Fix detach call without attach
[ Upstream commit 90d50b8d85834e73536fdccd5aa913b30494fef0 ] It's been reported that DSI host driver's detach can be called without the attach ever happening: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20230412073954.20601-1-tony@atomide.com/ After reading the code, I think this is what happens: We have a DSI host defined in the device tree and a DSI peripheral under that host (i.e. an i2c device using the DSI as data bus doesn't exhibit this behavior). The host driver calls mipi_dsi_host_register(), which causes (via a few functions) mipi_dsi_device_add() to be called for the DSI peripheral. So now we have a DSI device under the host, but attach hasn't been called. Normally the probing of the devices continues, and eventually the DSI peripheral's driver will call mipi_dsi_attach(), attaching the peripheral. However, if the host driver's probe encounters an error after calling mipi_dsi_host_register(), and before the peripheral has called mipi_dsi_attach(), the host driver will do cleanups and return an error from its probe function. The cleanups include calling mipi_dsi_host_unregister(). mipi_dsi_host_unregister() will call two functions for all its DSI peripheral devices: mipi_dsi_detach() and mipi_dsi_device_unregister(). The latter makes sense, as the device exists, but the former may be wrong as attach has not necessarily been done. To fix this, track the attached state of the peripheral, and only detach from mipi_dsi_host_unregister() if the peripheral was attached. Note that I have only tested this with a board with an i2c DSI peripheral, not with a "pure" DSI peripheral. However, slightly related, the unregister machinery still seems broken. E.g. if the DSI host driver is unbound, it'll detach and unregister the DSI peripherals. After that, when the DSI peripheral driver unbound it'll call detach either directly or using the devm variant, leading to a crash. And probably the driver will crash if it happens, for some reason, to try to send a message via the DSI bus. But that's another topic. Tested-by: H. drm/mipi-dsi: Fix byte order of 16-bit DCS set/get brightness

It also states that one parameter (i.e. one byte) shall be sent/received for 8 bit wide values, and two parameters shall be used for values that are between 9 and 16 bits wide. drm: Clarify definition of the DRM_BUS_FLAG_(PIXDATA|SYNC)_* macros
[ Upstream commit a792fa0e21876c9cbae7cc170083016299153051 ] The DRM_BUS_FLAG_PIXDATA_POSEDGE and DRM_BUS_FLAG_PIXDATA_NEGEDGE macros and their DRM_BUS_FLAG_SYNC_* counterparts define on which pixel clock edge data and sync signals are driven. They are however used in some drivers to define on which pixel clock edge data and sync signals are sampled, which should usually (but not always) be the opposite edge of the driving edge. This creates confusion. Create four new macros for both PIXDATA and SYNC that explicitly state the driving and sampling edge in their name to remove the confusion. The driving macros are defined as the opposite of the sampling macros to made code simpler based on the assumption that the driving and sampling edges are opposite. drm: fix EDID struct for old ARM OABI format

When building the kernel for arm with the "-mabi=apcs-gnu" option, gcc
will force alignment of all structures and unions to a word boundary
(see also STRUCTURE_SIZE_BOUNDARY and the "-mstructure-size-boundary=XX"
option if you're a gcc person), even when the members of said structures
do not want or need said alignment.
This completely messes up the structure alignment of 'struct edid' on
those targets, because even though all the embedded structures are
marked with "__attribute__((packed))", the unions that contain them are
not.
This was exposed by commit f1e4c916f97f ("drm/edid: add EDID block count
and size helpers"), but the bug is pre-existing. That commit just made
the structure layout problem cause a build failure due to the addition
of the
BUILD_BUG_ON(sizeof(*edid) != EDID_LENGTH);
sanity check in drivers/gpu/drm/drm_edid.c:edid_block_data().
This legacy union alignment should probably not be used in the first
place, but we can fix the layout by adding the packed attribute to the
union entries even when each member is already packed and it shouldn't
matter in a sane build environment.
You can see this issue with a trivial test program:

where building this with a normal "gcc -S" will result in the expected
5-byte size of said union:

but with an ARM compiler and the old ABI:

you get

.size a, 8
instead, because even though each member of the union is packed, the
union itself still gets aligned.

Glibc uses the TCGETS ioctl to implement isatty(), and without this change isatty() returns it incorrectly returns true for drm devices. To test run this command: $ if [ -t 0 ]; then echo is a tty; fi < /dev/dri/card0 which shows "is a tty" without this patch. This may also modify memory which the userspace application is not expecting. Unfortunately, it appears our fix in:
commit b5d29843d8ef ("drm/atomic_helper: Allow DPMS On<->Off changes
for unregistered connectors")
Which attempted to work around the problems introduced by:
commit 4d80273976bf ("drm/atomic_helper: Disallow new modesets on
unregistered connectors")
Is still not the right solution, as modesets can still be triggered
outside of drm_atomic_set_crtc_for_connector().
So in order to fix this, while still being careful that we don't break
modesets that a driver may perform before being registered with
userspace, we replace connector->registered with a tristate member,
connector->registration_state. This allows us to keep track of whether
or not a connector is still initializing and hasn't been exposed to
userspace, is currently registered and exposed to userspace, or has been
legitimately removed from the system after having once been present.
Using this info, we can prevent userspace from performing new modesets
on unregistered connectors while still allowing the driver to perform
modesets on unregistered connectors before the driver has finished being
registered.
Changes since v1:
- Fix WARN_ON() in drm_connector_cleanup() that CI caught with this
patchset in igt@drv_module_reload@basic-reload-inject and
igt@drv_module_reload@basic-reload by checking if the connector is
registered instead of unregistered, as calling drm_connector_cleanup()
on a connector that hasn't been registered with userspace yet should
stay valid.
- Remove unregistered_connector_check(), and just go back to what we
were doing before in commit 4d80273976bf ("drm/atomic_helper: Disallow
new modesets on unregistered connectors") except replacing
READ_ONCE(connector->registered) with drm_connector_is_unregistered().
This gets rid of the behavior of allowing DPMS On<->Off, but that should
be fine as it's more consistent with the UAPI we had before - danvet
- s/drm_connector_unregistered/drm_connector_is_unregistered/ - danvet
- Update documentation, fix some typos.

drm: of: Fix linking when CONFIG_OF is not set

The new helper drm_of_lvds_get_dual_link_pixel_order() introduced in
commit 6529007522de has a fallback stub when CONFIG_OF is not set, but
the stub is declared in drm_of.h without a static inline. This causes
multiple definitions of the function to be linked when the CONFIG_OF
option isn't set. Fix it by making the stub static inline.

commit 6529007522ded00b8912c079250620fa7a732166 upstream. An LVDS dual-link connection is made of two links, with even pixels transitting on one link, and odd pixels on the other link. The device tree can be used to fully describe dual-link LVDS connections between encoders and bridges/panels. The sink of an LVDS dual-link connection is made of two ports, the corresponding OF graph port nodes can be marked with either dual-lvds-even-pixels or dual-lvds-odd-pixels, and that fully describes an LVDS dual-link connection, including pixel order. drm_of_lvds_get_dual_link_pixel_order is a new helper added by this patch, given the source port nodes it returns DRM_LVDS_DUAL_LINK_EVEN_ODD_PIXELS if the source port nodes belong to an LVDS dual-link connection, with even pixels expected to be generated from the first port, and odd pixels expected to be generated from the second port. If the new helper returns DRM_LVDS_DUAL_LINK_ODD_EVEN_PIXELS, odd pixels are expected to be generated from the first port, and even pixels from the other port. drm: Add atomic variants for bridge enable/disable
commit 5ade071ba13e3bb24e3a9d5f8d6a3cf145deeb18 upstream. This patch adds atomic variants for all of pre_enable/enable/disable/post_disable bridge functions. These will be called from the appropriate atomic helper functions. If the bridge driver doesn't implement the atomic version of the function, we will fall back to the vanilla implementation. Note that some drivers call drm_bridge_disable directly, and these cases are not covered. It's up to the driver to decide whether to implement both atomic_disable and disable, or if it's not necessary.
