Raw Gadget is currently unable to stall/halt/wedge gadget endpoints,
which is required for proper emulation of certain USB classes.
This patch adds a few more ioctls:
- USB_RAW_IOCTL_EP0_STALL allows to stall control endpoint #0 when
there's a pending setup request for it.
- USB_RAW_IOCTL_SET/CLEAR_HALT/WEDGE allow to set/clear halt/wedge status
on non-control non-isochronous endpoints.

Currently automatic gadget endpoint selection based on required features
doesn't work. Raw Gadget tries iterating over the list of available
endpoints and finding one that has the right direction and transfer type.
Unfortunately selecting arbitrary gadget endpoints (even if they satisfy
feature requirements) doesn't work, as (depending on the UDC driver) they
might have fixed addresses, and one also needs to provide matching
endpoint addresses in the descriptors sent to the host.
The composite framework deals with this by assigning endpoint addresses
in usb_ep_autoconfig() before enumeration starts. This approach won't work
with Raw Gadget as the endpoints are supposed to be enabled after a
set_configuration/set_interface request from the host, so it's too late to
patch the endpoint descriptors that had already been sent to the host.
For Raw Gadget we take another approach. Similarly to GadgetFS, we allow
the user to make the decision as to which gadget endpoints to use.
This patch adds another Raw Gadget ioctl USB_RAW_IOCTL_EPS_INFO that
exposes information about all non-control endpoints that a currently
connected UDC has. This information includes endpoints addresses, as well
as their capabilities and limits to allow the user to choose the most
fitting gadget endpoint.
The USB_RAW_IOCTL_EP_ENABLE ioctl is updated to use the proper endpoint
validation routine usb_gadget_ep_match_desc().
These changes affect the portability of the gadgets that use Raw Gadget
when running on different UDCs. Nevertheless, as long as the user relies
on the information provided by USB_RAW_IOCTL_EPS_INFO to dynamically
choose endpoint addresses, UDC-agnostic gadgets can still be written with
Raw Gadget.

Conflict: documentation/usb/index.rst is missing.
(Upstream commit f2c2e717642c66f7fe7e5dd69b2e8ff5849f4d10.)
USB Raw Gadget is a kernel module that provides a userspace interface for
the USB Gadget subsystem. Essentially it allows to emulate USB devices
from userspace. Enabled with CONFIG_USB_RAW_GADGET. Raw Gadget is
currently a strictly debugging feature and shouldn't be used in
production.
Raw Gadget is similar to GadgetFS, but provides a more low-level and
direct access to the USB Gadget layer for the userspace. The key
differences are:
1. Every USB request is passed to the userspace to get a response, while
GadgetFS responds to some USB requests internally based on the provided
descriptors. However note, that the UDC driver might respond to some
requests on its own and never forward them to the Gadget layer.
2. GadgetFS performs some sanity checks on the provided USB descriptors,
while Raw Gadget allows you to provide arbitrary data as responses to
USB requests.
3. Raw Gadget provides a way to select a UDC device/driver to bind to,
while GadgetFS currently binds to the first available UDC.
4. Raw Gadget uses predictable endpoint names (handles) across different
UDCs (as long as UDCs have enough endpoints of each required transfer
type).
5. Raw Gadget has ioctl-based interface instead of a filesystem-based one.

commit a6618f4aedb2b60932d766bd82ae7ce866e842aa upstream.
Currently, the offsets in the UAC2 processing unit descriptor are
calculated incorrectly. It causes an issue when connecting the device which
provides such a feature:
~~~~
[84126.724420] usb 1-1.3.1: invalid Processing Unit descriptor (id 18)
After this patch is applied, the UAC2 processing unit inits w/o this error.
commit 81cf4a45360f70528f1f64ba018d61cb5767249a upstream.
As most of BOS descriptors are longer in length than their header
'struct usb_dev_cap_header', comparing solely with it is not sufficient
to avoid out-of-bounds access to BOS descriptors.
This patch adds descriptor type specific length check in
usb_get_bos_descriptor() to fix the issue.
Many user space API headers have licensing information, which is either
incomplete, badly formatted or just a shorthand for referring to the
license under which the file is supposed to be. This makes it hard for
compliance tools to determine the correct license.
Update these files with an SPDX license identifier. The identifier was
chosen based on the license information in the file.
GPL/LGPL licensed headers get the matching GPL/LGPL SPDX license
identifier with the added 'WITH Linux-syscall-note' exception, which is
the officially assigned exception identifier for the kernel syscall
exception:
NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
This exception makes it possible to include GPL headers into non GPL
code, without confusing license compliance tools.
Headers which have either explicit dual licensing or are just licensed
under a non GPL license are updated with the corresponding SPDX
identifier and the GPLv2 with syscall exception identifier. The format
is:
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR SPDX-ID-OF-OTHER-LICENSE)
SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding shorthand, which can be
used instead of the full boiler plate text. The update does not remove
existing license information as this has to be done on a case by case
basis and the copyright holders might have to be consulted. This will
happen in a separate step.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne. See the previous patch in this series for the
methodology of how this patch was researched.
Many user space API headers are missing licensing information, which
makes it hard for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default are files without license information under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPLV2. Marking them GPLV2 would exclude
them from being included in non GPLV2 code, which is obviously not
intended. The user space API headers fall under the syscall exception
which is in the kernels COPYING file:
NOTE! This copyright does *not* cover user programs that use kernel
services by normal system calls - this is merely considered normal use
of the kernel, and does *not* fall under the heading of "derived work".
otherwise syscall usage would not be possible.
Update the files which contain no license information with an SPDX
license identifier. The chosen identifier is 'GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note' which is the officially assigned identifier for the
Linux syscall exception. SPDX license identifiers are a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
Andrey Konovalov reported a possible out-of-bounds problem for a USB interface
association descriptor. He writes:
It seems there's no proper size check of a USB_DT_INTERFACE_ASSOCIATION
descriptor. It's only checked that the size is >= 2 in
usb_parse_configuration(), so find_iad() might do out-of-bounds access
to intf_assoc->bInterfaceCount.
And he's right, we don't check for crazy descriptors of this type very well, so
resolve this problem. Yet another issue found by syzkaller...
Now that we have a helper to gather periodic
endpoints' multiplier bits from wMaxPacketSize and
every driver is using it, we can safely make sure
that usb_endpoint_maxp() returns only bits 10:0 of
wMaxPacketSize which is where the actual packet size
lies.
Signed-off-by: Felipe Balbi <felipe.balbi@linux.intel.com>
According to USB Specification 2.0 table 9-4,
wMaxPacketSize is a bitfield. Endpoint's maxpacket
is laid out in bits 10:0. For high-speed,
high-bandwidth isochronous endpoints, bits 12:11
contain a multiplier to tell us how many
transactions we want to try per uframe.
This means that if we want an isochronous endpoint
to issue 3 transfers of 1024 bytes per uframe,
wMaxPacketSize should contain the value:
1024 | (2 << 11)
or 5120 (0x1400). In order to make Host and
Peripheral controller drivers' life easier, we're
adding a helper which returns bits 12:11. Note that
no care is made WRT to checking endpoint type and
gadget's speed. That's left for drivers to handle.
This is a convenience function to obtain an instrument's
capabilities from its file descriptor without having to access sysfs
from the user program.
Background:
When performing a read on an instrument that is executing a function
that runs longer than the USB timeout the instrument may hang and
require a device reset to recover. The READ_STATUS_BYTE operation
always returns even when the instrument is busy permitting to poll
for the appropriate condition. This capability is referred to in
instrument application notes on synchronizing acquisitions for other
platforms.
usb 3.1 extend the hub get-port-status request by adding different
request types. the new request types return 4 additional bytes called
extended port status, these bytes are returned after the regular
portstatus and portchange values.
The extended port status contains a speed ID for the currently used
sublink speed. A table of supported Speed IDs with details about the link
is provided by the hub in the device descriptor BOS SuperSpeedPlus
device capability Sublink Speed Attributes.
Support this new request. Ask for the extended port status after port
reset if hub supports USB 3.1. If link is running at SuperSpeedPlus
set the device speed to USB_SPEED_SUPER_PLUS
Add a new USB_SPEED_SUPER_PLUS device speed, and make sure usb core can
handle the new speed.
In most cases the behaviour is the same as with USB_SPEED_SUPER SuperSpeed
devices. In a few places we add a "Plus" string to inform the user of the
new speed.
UVC 1.5 devices report a bInterfaceProtocol value set to 1 in their
interface descriptors. The uvcvideo driver only matches on
bInterfaceProtocol 0, preventing those devices from being detected.
More changes to the driver are needed for full UVC 1.5 compatibility.
However, at least the UVC 1.5 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 cameras have been
reported to work out of the box with the driver with an updated match
table.
Enable UVC 1.5 support in the match table to support the devices that
can work with the current driver implementation. Devices that can't will
fail, but that's hardly a regression as they're currently not detected
at all anyway.
Pull USB updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big USB patchset for 4.4-rc1.
As usual, most of the changes are in the gadget subsystem, and we
removed a host controller for a device that is no longer in existance,
and probably never was even made public. There is also other minor
driver updates and new device ids, full details in the changelog.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while"
